The business, whose founding date is January 28, 2002, is a member of the DAMAC Group, which was founded in 1992 by the company's owner and chairman, Hussain Sajwani. As the first Middle Eastern real estate firm to list on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) through a worldwide depository receipts program in December 2013, DAMAC earned US$379 million through an initial public offering (IPO). On January 12, 2015, DAMAC started trading in Dubai as a result of an offer to swap its outstanding Global Depository Receipts (listed on the LSE) for Ordinary Shares (listed on the DFM). In March 2015, the GDRs were subsequently delisted.
In Dubai, the business has unveiled two master complexes with a combined area of around 100 million square feet. Around the almost four million square feet of private parkland and the championship-caliber Trump International Golf Club Dubai, DAMAC Hills provides a combination of horizontal and vertical community living. In February 2017, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump served as honorary guests for the opening of the Trump International Golf Club Dubai. The Trump World Golf Club Dubai, a golf course designed by Tiger Woods, is located in the second development, AKOYA.
DAMAC Properties was granted more than 370 contracts totaling AED 3.5 billion as of January 2017. Across its portfolio of developments, the contracts comprised construction, supplier, and consulting services. In June 2018, the business committed over $1.5 billion to its centerpiece project, Akoya.
